Today, we’re honored to sit down with Urvashi Sheth, Chief Customer Officer at Intermedia. Join us as we explore Urvashi’s journey and learn about the importance of women’s leadership in the tech industry and beyond.
Thank you for joining us today, Urvashi. It’s an honor to have this conversation with you, especially during International Women’s Month. Let’s start at the beginning. Can you share what inspired you to embark on this journey in the tech industry?
Urvashi Sheth: I came to Intermedia after being Vice President of Global Customer Care & Warranty Operations at Western Digital. There, I oversaw support operations across the company, and P&L for multiple global 24/7 call centers, world-wide repair, and reverse logistic centers. It was a challenging role of business consolidation and transformation managing 4 different well-known brand names during and after mergers. At SanDisk and Western Digital, I gained experience working with diverse cultures as I had to deal with employees and vendors from all over the world. It is very motivating to see successful people from different backgrounds and learn from their way of thinking. It was a great learning experience for me! I also learned how different cultures perceive women in business.
I am committed to removing obstacles and promoting gender equality at work. Most recently, I helped hire and promote four talented women to director, senior director, and vice president roles.
What were the key factors that helped you navigate your career path so successfully within Intermedia?
US: As a leader at Intermedia, I am sharpening my skills and leadership while creating excellent Customer Experience functions that win awards. In the last 5 years at Intermedia, I have learned more about Women Leadership, and I strive to improve as a leader every day. From technology and my role, I like to focus on innovation and using advanced technology such as AI and Machine Learning. We are applying this new technology at Intermedia in both our products and service, which brings amazing results and enables everyone to learn and succeed.
Intermedia’s dedication to their employees’ employee growth is notable, from online and in-person training to executive coaching and the Women of Intermedia initiative. How have these programs influenced your journey and the company culture?
US: Intermedia has a great culture that puts employees first. This is what sets us apart as a company. We are a company that values teamwork and learning from each other. This culture helps me develop both personally and professionally.
I embrace a very inclusive culture of growth, diversity, and empowerment at Intermedia every day — which has been crucial for my career and personal journey. I enjoy learning here, and I am grateful to learn and work with likeminded colleagues at Intermedia, and to belong to a community that supports women, especially in the cloud communication industry. I appreciate seeing the women’s representation at Intermedia and beyond.
As we celebrate not just International Women’s Day, but really, International Women’s Month, what message would you like to share with women in Intermedia, the IT industry, and beyond?
US: Success depends on working together and building connections. Try to appreciate different cultures and learn from them. Grow your network with diverse people. Also, in your daily work, make sure to think beyond what you are doing today and ask yourself what do you want to do next?
